Rosebud Coffee & Coffee With A Cause is a nice place
They serve light and medium roast coffee that they roast in house 
and are a social enterprise that operates as a craft coffee shop 
while providing a 15-month paid internship and job skills training program for transitional-aged youth.


We wondered if they maybe should have stronger management, 
as the four guys behind the counter appeared to be slow and not very focused on their tasks. 


Well, that’s another subject, and the coffee is surely pleasant.
The espresso, on the fruity side, served with a glass of sparkling water, is always welcome.


We had a little bit of a shock looking at the prices of the pastries, provided by Sugarbloom.
Understanding the philosophy behind the program 
— taking kids off the street and helping them — is something; 
feeling screwed over for a croissant at $7.25 is another story.
Beautiful, though.




You’d better order a burrito or a sandwich 

and hold for the 15 minutes they ask you to wait for the preparation for a good deal,

 seriously.

They should ask Sugarbloom to help them a little, maybe. 

Otherwise, the cost of coffee is pretty much the same as everywhere else.





They have nice T-shirts with a strong message for sale, and coffee bags too.




Otherwise, the place is social and spacious, 

with about 50 seats inside and a few tables outside right on East Colorado Blvd. 

Parking is less of a problem here than it is in Old Town, for sure.

In short, their story is nice, their coffee is good, 

the service is okay, the pastries are steep, and the space is cool.

Copa Vida

  70 S Raymond Ave, Pasadena, CA 91105 Old Town Pasadena,  on the corner of Green Street and Raymond, right across from the gorgeous Castle Green,  open from 7:30 am to 3 pm. The location is super prime, though busy.  Parking is available in large structures for cheap or on the streets with meters.  The businesses around are everywhere and enjoyable. The space is large, with about 90 seats divided into two rooms,  plus an additional 10 outside on the sidewalk. The coffee is above average.  They do their own roasting.  You get your sparkling water with your espresso,  respectfully, and they have been consistent for a while now. The pastries are good, and they have a kitchen serving very good breakfast and lunch. Prices are not abusive, and the staff is nice. Cafe de Leche

5000 York Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90042   Sweet Café de Leche It used to be located at the top of Lake in Altadena.  Unfortunately, it is closed now, and luckily, their primary location is not far,  on York and Ave 50 in Highland Park. The espresso is tasty, and the Americano follows.  They roast and sell their coffee. The pastries are from  Röckenwagner ,  delivered fresh every day,  as they also do for Jones Coffee.  Affordable too. The location on York is nice,  with plenty of room inside and a bunch of tables on the two sidewalks around.  Great for kids, as the Highland Park playground stands just across,  and great during the day for all the businesses around. Decorated with a fitting, exotic, and arty taste. The staff is nice, as is the owner, who drives her car with license plates you’ll recognize. Parking is fine but a little tricky.
